Love at first sight / Coup de coeur

At Birmingham this summer, Padmaja Krishnan' exhibit caught everyone's eyes.
Padmaja is a young Indian designer, based in Mumbai. After writing an academic paper on Kaantha that brought her to remote villages, she was impressed by the almost disappearing knowledge of the women doing "nakshi kaantha",  an ancient style from Bangladesh.
She then started creating designs, in the narrative style of kaantha, and now has a group of 9 women working with her. Her designs are both traditional and illustrating modern themes such as mobile phones.
Padmaja also creates other pieces, a mixture of ancient boros and kaantha. Pictures were not allowed, therefore here is just a peek!
